About Us
The German Language Programme at the Centre for Language Studies, NUS

German language courses were first taught at the NUS in 1991 under European Studies. In 2001, with the establishment of the Centre for Language Studies, the German Language Programme was transferred to the Centre. Today, we offer eight language modules from the Elementary to the Advanced Level to undergraduate and graduate students of the university. Students read the German modules to fulfil Area Studies Requirements (European Studies and Global Studies) or as Unrestricted Electives (FASS) or Cross-Faculty Breadth Modules (all other faculties).
e-daf, the Electronic Self-Access Centre for German as a Foreign Language, was conceived and created by the German Language Programme to support students' learning as early as the year 2000. e-daf is currently being renewed in its present form since 2018 as part of the Centre's SALLE Project.
