Staff Profile
Born and raised in Central Java, Emma completed her bachelor’s degree with a teaching certificate in English Language Education in 2009 from Sanata Dharma University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship as a teaching assistant for the Indonesian Program at the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 2010 and continued her studies graduating with a Master of Arts in Southeast Asian Studies and TESOL Certificate in 2013. She holds a Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Montana, Missoula in 2020.
Prior to her appointment as lecturer at the NUS Center for Language Studies in 2021, she was a lead instructor/ adjunct professor for the Indonesian Program at the Defense Critical Language and Culture Program, University of Montana, Missoula. She also taught Bahasa Indonesia at the University of Wisconsin, Madison from 2010-2013. When not engage in teaching, she gained administrative experience during Summer supporting language programs, such as National African Language Resource Center and Southeast Asian Studies Summer Institute. In Indonesia, she taught at various universities, such as Sanata Dharma, Prasetiya Mulya, and Multimedia Nusantara.
