Staff Profile
Passionate about language, languages and communication at large, Sophie is both a trained language teacher and an avid language learner. With a postgraduate masters’ degree in contrastive linguistics (DEA Université Paris 7)) and a teaching diploma in French as a Foreign Language (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle), she started her teaching career in China, Guangzhou Sun Yat Sen University (广州中山大学) while furthering her Chinese studies. Her language background, opened up opportunities to work for the French embassy trade commission and as a banker in China but she returned to teaching and education when she moved to Singapore. She has worked as a linguistic analyst in International schools, implementing best practice in foreign language and mother tongue programmes. As she missed the interaction with students, she now conducts language training classes for aspiring Chinese teachers and is a part time lecturer, or rather a language facilitator, at NTU and NUS .
