Need to refresh your memory regarding the pronunciation? Don’t forget:
There are two “r” sounds in German. The consonantal “r”, at the beginning of a word (rot) or syllable (verstehen), after a consonant (Frage) or after a short vowel (Herr).
To pronounce the consonantal “r” is produced at the back of your throat like the “ch” in “acht”. It sounds a bit like gargling water.
You pronounce the vocal “r” after a long vowel (Ohr) or in the combination “-er”. The pronunciation of –er sounds like a weakly pronounced “a”.
