Arabic Course
Elementary Level
Course Materials, Notes & Exercises for:
LAR2201 Arabic 2, Sem 1, 2019/2020
By now you are able to read and write Arabic scripts both vowelled and non-vowelled and assign the diacritics with ease; having achieved this, our primary focus in this module is to build up and maximize your communicative skill in Arabic by means of learning it in contexts as spoken and used by native speakers, augmenting your active vocabulary, learning new structures and grammar rules, and writing short compositions/paragraphs on various topics. Aiming at as much interaction in Arabic as possible, a communicative learning approach is employed both in lecture sessions and tutorials.

*To be able to take this module, you should have taken LAR1201 Arabic 1 at NUS. Students who have taken Arabic in an overseas university or in a language school here in Singapore, and feel that they can cope with the content of LAR2201 Arabic 2, should take placement test held on Tuesday, 8th January 2019, at 10:00am-12:00pm in AS4/06-01.The placement test has an oral component, and according to the students' overall performance in the test they will be placed in right level. Results of the placement tests are normally announced on the same day.
